DG meets Singapore Education Ministry officials; visits polytechnics

The Director General Dr. Man-Gon Park visited Singapore in an important mission to meet with officials of the Ministry of Education of Singapore. He discussed plans for the upcoming special program to be conducted by CPSC in May 2006 in the Republic of Korea.

During this visit on 19 October 2005, he met with Ms Chang Hwee Nee, Deputy Secretary (Policy) who represented the Minister, and Ms. Leong May Fong, CPSC Liaison Officer. They also discussed, among other things, mutual support of the Government of Singapore to CPSC's role in the human resources development in Asia and the Pacific region, and CPSC's services for member countries on areas of accreditation and certification, labor market information systems and information technology.

On behalf of the Ministry, they agreed to collaborate to CPSC activities and follow up plans for the special program.

Dr. Park also visited Temasek Polytechnic where he met Mr. Ang Keng Loo, Deputy Principal and officials of the International Relations & Industry Services; Ngee Ann Polytechnic where he met Mr. Lee Tuck Seng, Deputy Principal and Director of Teaching and Learning Centre; and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) represented by Dr. Law Song Seng, Director and CEO.

His visit resulted to learning significant developments in the education and TVET of Singapore and understanding the areas needing further enhancement, in which CPSC could significantly intervene.
