UNEVOC, CPSC, Thai Education Ministry host conference in Thailand
As an initial outcome of CPSC's recent activation of partnership with the UNESCO UNEVOC International Center in Bonn, Germany, CPSC is co-organizing with UNEVOC and the Thai Ministry of Education an International Conference on Integrating Sustainable Development Issues into TVET: Poverty Alleviation and Skills for Employability, Citizenship and Conservation from 10-13 August 2005. The Conference will be held at the IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, IMPACT Arena, Exhibition and Conservation Center, Thailand and to be hosted by the Office of the Vocational Education, Ministry of Education, Government of Thailand.
The conference is set to focus explicitly on the integration of sustainable development issues into TVET, with particular regard to the Asia-Pacific region.
It will gather policy makers, educators, researchers and experts in TVET from different countries in the region as well as several international specialists, 20 of which are being supported by CPSC from its member countries.
The Director General, Dr. Man-Gon Park will deliver a paper on the major "hotspots"; affecting sustainable development in the region and their implications for TVET policy and programmes.
The conference will focus on two themes related to sustainable development, namely: (1) poverty alleviation and economic vitality; and (2) skills development for employability, citizenship and conservation.
The conferences seeks to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices in the integration of these two sustainable development issues in TVET to develop strategies and guidelines for integration of sustainable development issues in TVET; and to increase regional and international cooperation on these issues in TVET in the region.
